3 Day Lake Tanganyika and the Nile River

This is a three days exciting tour in Tanganyika plus the source of the Nile found in Bwindi. This adventure in Burundi will take you the Lake Tanganyika’s shores to enjoy the beautiful sights as well as unwind on the stunning beaches. Experience the scenic views of Lake Tanganyika at Kabonambo plus Vyanda, and the tea plantations at Teza or at Rwegura. In Tanzania you can get into the lake’s green transparent water which appears like a steamy sea.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: ARRIVE BUJUMBURA
On arrival be warmly received and then escorted to your hotel.
Tour Bujumbura for half of the day, visit the cultural and snake museum, tour the memorial, the city hall, Lake Tanganyika which is the most prominent attraction in the area, the Islam Culture Centre and the President’s Office.
Dine and sleep at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel (B&B)

DAY 2: SOURCE OF THE RIVER NILE AT RUTOVU
Travel over 120 kilometers to tour the genuine source of the Great Nile found at Rutovu. In the evening drive back to Bujumbura. Dine and sleep at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel (B&B)

DAY 3: CULTURAL TOUR OF BUJUMBURA AND FLY OUT
Today you will go to the Memorial of the Explorers in the morning which is a massive rock in the outskirts of Bujumbura. It commemorates the conference of Hanington with John Speke who both where explorers. Visit the local market, Bujumbura’s down-town and the crafts centre. After lunch, you will then catch your return flight.
